All net proceeds from The Thrifty Kitty go to support Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) the animal shelter of the City of Alameda.
FAAS receives nearly 1,000 lost, abandoned, and surrendered animals a year, and saves 96% through innovative programs, community partnerships, and support from a passionate base of volunteers and donors. Our mission to re-home animals sparked our passion to create The Thrifty Kitty - a vibrant space to re-home clothing, artwork, and household items.

Thank you to all for making our first year a success!!
Come browse new and gently used clothes, fashion accessories, jewelry, housewares, pet items, framed art, home décor, collectibles, gifts, and other thoughtfully curated treasures. You'll get the feel of boutique shopping, with the added benefit of knowing your purchase helps care for animals and gives found treasures an extended life.
New items come in every day, and go out just about as fast. You'll find great prices, and a friendly staff.
Of course, we're pet friendly, so stop by with your pal and become a part of our thrifting community.
Follow us on social media to keep up-to-date on new items, events and programs.
With the coming of Spring, Thrifty Kitty staff has added live plants to their inventory of garden and household plant containers. Your imagination is your only limitation -- find a plant, then find the perfect home for it. Just think -- you'll be re-homing a cast-off container AND adding the beauty and benefit of a living plant to your home.
Move over, Amazon. Thrifty Kitty's book section is regularly updated to include Amazon best sellers using the same criteria of title requests. And at $4 for a hardcover best seller, $3 for paperbacks and kids' books, and a buck for comics, you can't beat the prices. Puzzles and games for the whole family, too..
We are fortunate to have many donors who choose The Thrifty Kitty to donate their fine art, collectibles, jewelry and accessories. From Italian glassware to "ugly pottery," whimsical frogs to music boxes, you'll often find a treasure someone has passed along for a good cause.
